Using Bacopa For Cognitive Enhancement And Parasites
I am going to show you how I use a very powerful herb called “Bacopa Monnieri” for Cognitive Enhancement and Parasite Cleansing, as well as how I use it as an effective appetite suppressant.
I have personally experimented with Bacopa Monnieri herb, on and off for over 10 years, and with hundreds of patients to experiment with and experience the effects of this exotic herb for intestinal parasite cleansing and cognitive enhancement.
Bacopa’s main active phytochemicals and compounds are a class of saponins called bacosides. Bacopa monnieri also contains a host of other phytochemicals, including brahmine, nicotine, and another class of saponins called bacopasides.
Over the past ten years, I have experimented with a low dose of bacopa daily for several weeks at a time, sometimes 3-5 times in a year.
I was very interested in cognitive enhancement, so I experimented with this herb for many years and it worked exceptionally well in various levels of cognitive enhancement.
Most of the patients I worked with over the years stated they had very good positive cognitive effects with the use of Bacopa herb, in just a few weeks of daily use.
I have also have experimented with larger singular doses of Bacopa, while intermittent or block fasting. I have found that the larger doses of bacopa have a profound effect on intestinal cleansing and a variety of parasites.
Bacopa Monnieri Plant
“Bacopa monnieri has many names (water hyssop, brahmi, thyme-leaved gratiola, water hyssop, herb of grace, Indian pennywort) and is a perennial, creeping herb native to the wetlands of southern and Eastern India, Australia, Europe, Africa, Asia, and North and South America. B. monnieri is an herb used in Ayurveda.”

History Of Bacopa Monnieri
Over 3000 years (or more) ago, they say the tribal people started experimenting with the plants that were local to them, and found bacopa monnieri to be a powerful tool to enhance and protect their cognitive abilities.
Bacopa monnieri has many names, also called Brahmi or the “Herb of Grace”, Ayurvedic medicine in India and other cultures have been using this herb for centuries.
In traditional Ayurvedic treatments, bacopa has been used for a variety of ailments for epilepsy, asthma, ulcers, tumors, parasitic infections, inflammation, liver and intestinal toxicity, depression and even leprosy.
The sacred herb was allegedly used by ancient Vedic scholars to memorize lengthy sacred hymns and scriptures.
Using Bacopa in the Western world has gained popularity in recent years, using this natural brain-boosting alternative treatment to psychotropic synthetic drugs.
The recent science research is pointing to bacopa monnieri as one of the most powerful and natural nootropic substances you can find. (See references below)
Benefits Of Bacopa
Some of the common positive benefits I have had with Bacopa and thoroughly mentioned in the old and current research literature are: much better memory recall, clear minded and less or absent brain fog, more focused in daily activities, much better grounded emotions, increased energy, weight loss and fewer hunger pains.
These are some of the benefits that are mentioned in the literature.
- Gut Health Improvement
- Balancing Brain Chemicals
- Liver Protection
- Neuroprotective Effects
- Reducing Parasites
- Improved Immune Function
- Contains Powerful Antioxidants
- Reduced inflammation
- Boost brain function and speed
- Reduce ADHD symptoms
- Prevent anxiety and stress
- Lower blood pressure levels
- May have anticancer properties (see references below)
Bacopa Is A Nootropic Compound
There are many drugs and supplements that are classified as nootropics. I would recommend Bacopa to be one of the safest and effective nootropics to start with compared to the other synthetic / chemical based nootropics.
Nootropics are drugs, supplements, and other substances that may improve cognitive function, particularly executive functions, memory, creativity, or motivation, in healthy individuals – src: Wikipedia
Bacopa Can Be Used As An Appetite Suppressant
Bacopa is also an excellent natural appetite suppressant for people that are hungry while fasting and dieting.
I have experimented and used Bacopa for many years. I have found that taking small doses of Bacopa and chewing a small amount in the mouth, while intermittent and block fasting is excellent to suppress the hunger signals while dieting or fasting.
Weight loss for most people is a very simple process of just eating less calories and doing more physical activity.
One of the reasons I think Bacopa is excellent for hunger pains and parasite cleansing, is that the herb is very bitter and tastes absolutely terrible. By far, Bacopa is the most bitter herb I have ever tasted.
This is probably why this and many other bitter herbs are excellent for appetite suppression and a mild poison for parasites in the intestines and blood stream.
The bitter taste along with all of the unique endogenous plant compounds may be one of the reasons why the cognitive enhancement is noticed by many people over the years.
Patients who have used this therapy not only noticed the appetite suppression, but also stated they felt their minds had much more clarity, less fogginess, much better memory and recall had been enhanced significantly.
When I travelled to the Amazon rainforest for 3 weeks, I learned from the Shamans and medicine people how they were using Bacopa and other herbs for parasites and depression.
The local natives were using doses of 1-3 grams of Bacopa daily for several weeks at a time, for effective parasite and intestinal cleansing. They said their ancestors had been using this herb for 100’s of years.
Does Bacopa Monnieri Really Improve Memory?
The Ayurvedic herb brahmi, also called water hyssop or bacopa, is believed to sharpen the brain by protecting cells and increasing chemicals associated with learning and memory. Bioactive Compounds Found In B. Monniera Leaf Extract
Series of biochemical studies identified different pharmacological compounds from ethanolic extracts of Bacopa, which include alkaloids (brahmine, nicotine, and herpestine), saponins (monnierin, hersaponin), sterols (b-sitosterol, stigma-sterol), d-mannitol, acid A, and betulinic acid – src: Molecular and Functional Characterization of Bacopa monniera: A Retrospective Review
Bacopas most important active compounds are its bacosides, or called steroidal saponins. These plant compounds are responsible for improving learning and memory.
Over 12 unique bacosides have been discovered in bacopa so far. So, I am sure we will be seeing more research in the near future for Bacopa.

On further research, human studies show it may help boost brain function, treat ADHD symptoms, and reduce stress and anxiety. Other studies show test-tube and animal studies found that it may possess anticancer properties and reduce inflammation and blood pressure.
Although these potential health benefits are promising, more research on Bacopa monnieri is needed both clinically and biologically to understand the herbs full effects in humans or animals.
A few of the clinical studies: One study in mice showed that supplementing with Bacopa monnieri improved their spatial learning and ability to retain information – src: Enhancement of basolateral amygdaloid neuronal dendritic arborization following Bacopa monniera extract treatment in adult rats.
Additionally, a 12-week study in 46 healthy adults observed that taking 300 mg of Bacopa monnieri daily significantly improved the speed of processing visual information, learning rate, and memory, compared to the placebo treatment – src: The chronic effects of an extract of Bacopa monniera (Brahmi) on cognitive function in healthy human subjects.
In another 12-week study in 60 older adults found that taking either 300 mg or 600 mg of Bacopa monnieri extract daily improved memory, attention, and the ability to process information, compared to the placebo treatment – src: Effects of 12-Week Bacopa monnieri Consumption on Attention, Cognitive Processing, Working Memory, and Functions of Both Cholinergic and Monoaminergic Systems in Healthy Elderly Volunteers.
What Are The Possible Side Effects Of Bacopa?
Bacopa may cause side effects such as:
- Nausea
- Stomach cramps
- Bloating
- Diarrhea
- Increased bowel movements
- Dry mouth
- Fatigue
The only side effects I have had while taking larger doses of about 1500mg is slight nausea, stomach cramps, bloating and increased loose bowel movements.
Capsule Sizes And Measurements
When you are going to fill your own capsules with Bacopa or any other substance, it is important to learn about the capsule sizes and measurements.
Each full capsule of the “0” size capsules, the measurement would be approx. 500 mg
If I fill – ½ a capsule full, the measurement would be approx. 250 mg.
I like to use the “0” and “00” sized capsules because they are very easy to swallow, and simple to figure out my measurements.
So, if I wanted to make 1500 mgs of Bacopa or another substance, I could fill 3 of the “0” size using the Enteric Coated Capsules.
One teaspoon will fill about 7 – “0” sized capsules.
How I Use Bacopa
I like to use the pure concentrated powdered organic extract form of Bacopa Extract with a special acid resistant enteric coated “00” capsule.
Enteric coated capsules are designed to not degrade or release while in the stomach acid. The capsules are designed to break down in the small intestine bypassing the stomach digestion to get the unopened capsule to release deeper into the areas of the small intestines for parasites.
Many of the parasites live in the small intestine, and they can be microscopic or very large as a 20 ft tapeworm.
I don’t use the store bought pills/tablets, as I like to use the organic raw material powdered or resin Bacopa always with the enteric coated capsules. This way I can get the Bacopa herb, or other substance, deeper down into intestines where these parasitic creatures feed, live and replicate.
Cognitive Enhancement Protocols
For cognitive enhancement, I recommend patients 300-500 mg dose, 2-4 times per week for 30 days. I have known many people to have experimented with Bacopa for 3-6 months with little or no side effects, except for feeling smarter and more alert.
I fill 1of the “0” enteric coated capsules of Bacopa, the measurement will be 300 mg – 500 mg, depending on how tight you compact the material in the capsule. Then I immediately drink about 20 oz of water with the capsule. I like to take it preferably early to mid-morning, and always on an empty stomach.
Parasite Intestinal Cleanse Protocols
I recommend patients to follow the interval dose protocols 1 dose of 1000-1500 mg 3-4 times per week for at 2 weeks, then do not use for 2 weeks.
After 2 weeks and If I am feeling good, I will repeat the same cycle for the next two weeks.
The max dose I was taking for intestinal parasites I thought was effect was 1500-2000 mg in a single dose. Do another interval dose cycle of the same protocol.
Everytime I take a max dose of 1500 mgs of bacopa on an empty stomach, I feel some mild, moderate intestinal bloating and some pain on/off for about 1-2 hours, then I have a pronounced bowel movement.
Appetite Suppressant Protocols
For appetite suppression, I like to put ¼ tsp of Bacopa in the mouth for 15-20 minutes. Try to not swallow for as long as you can. I hold the bacopa, if I can for about 20-30 minutes in my mouth and swish around with your saliva.
The bitterness of the Bacopa usually de-stimulates the hunger signals that are often brought on from parasites in the body, signaling to the host that they are hungry.
After 20+ minutes, and you have swallowed the Bacopa, brush and wash your gums and mouth with a little baking soda. This will neutralize the acid resins.
The appetite suppressant effects last for several hours at a time. Make sure you drink plenty of water when using Bacopa or any other detox protocols.
Bacopa Protocols And Recommendations
When using the Bacopa protocols, I recommend patients to start with a low dose of about 500 mg which is 1 full capsule of the “0” size enteric coated capsule to start.
When filling your capsules, make sure you push and compact the Bacopa powder in the capsule several times, so the powder is packed tightly.
One of the primary reasons to start with a low dose is to see how your stomach and intestines will react and feel.
Typically most people will have mild to no discomfort or reaction to taking 500 mg or 1 “0” size enteric coated capsule of Bacopa.
With higher doses, I usually feel mild to moderate intestinal discomfort in 45-90 minutes, after taking 1000 mg to 1500 mg at one time.
The intestinal discomfort only usually lasts approx. 15-30 minutes and then I usually have several small or 1 large bowel movement, or a series of them.
I always make sure that I take the Bacopa with 20-30 oz of distilled water, preferably on an empty stomach. The use of Bacopa on an empty stomach is much more effective to detox and release parasites that live in the small intestines.
For a more effective parasitic therapy and treatment using bacopa, this is best accomplished when you are fasting for several days, or when you have the least amount of feces, intestinal fiber or bulk in the intestines.
The more empty the intestines are the more optimal and effective the Bacopa treatment will be for parasites.
Again, I have personally had excellent results with using bacopa for both increased cognitive ability and as an intestinal parasite cleanse.
Most people will have 1 to several bowel movements with a 1500 mg dose on an empty stomach. On the other hand, some people will not have a bowel movement when taking the max dose of 1500 mg at one time.
Constipation is usually caused by the intestines being backed up with waste/debris or the intestines are full of food.
If the intestines are full of food the Bacopa herb is not able to concentrate enough to cleanse and detoxify the intestines that well.
As I have recommended, I have found that an empty stomach, or preferably several days of water fasting, is the secret concept for this herbal therapy for a deeper intestinal and parasitic cleansing.
If you are sensitive to detoxification therapies, I recommend patients to split the amount of bacopa you are taking in two smaller doses. Take ½ the dose and then wait about two hours and then take the second half.
Again, this therapy works much more efficiently when the intestines are void of food and debris. The less bulk in there is in the intestines, the better results you will have for parasitic reduction.
Is Bacopa Monnieri Safe During Pregnancy?
“Bacopa monnieri is not recommended for pregnant women, as no studies have assessed the safety of its use during pregnancy ( 37 ). Moreover, it may interact with certain medications, including amitriptyline, a medication used for pain relief.” – src: 7 Emerging Benefits of Bacopa monnieri (Brahmi)
Precautions
As many plants, bacopa monnieri is known to accumulate a variety of toxic heavy metals like mercury, depending on where the plant is grown, the levels of mercury or other toxins in its extract could be high. It’s important to purchase bacopa monnieri that is organic and of high quality.
If you are currently taking any anti-depressants, thyroid medications, sedatives like Valium or Ambien, it can be contraindicated. It may intensify the activity of thyroid-stimulating drugs or inhibit the effectiveness of thyroid-suppressant drugs.
Bacopa extract is well-tolerated when taken in recommended dosages by mouth for short durations of up to 12 weeks. Check with your doctor before taking bacopa monnieri if you have any medical conditions or concerns.
