Essential Understandings Of Plastics, Bisphenols and BPA – We are going to talk more deeply about some of the essential understandings of the dangers of all plastics, bis-phenols or BPA’s. If you live in the modern world, then you most likely have accumulated very small fine nano-micro petroleum based synthetic contaminants called petro-chemical plastics throughout your body.

Endocrine Hormone Disruptors AKA Estrogen Mimickers or Xenoestrogens:

BPA is not the only endocrine disrupter known. There are well over 300 other documented chemicals known as “Endocrine Disruptors” in a lot of our products, foods and drinks.

The softeners and hardeners that are used in plastics are called “Plasticizers” like Bis-Phenol A and many others that make plastic more flexible or hard. Bisphenol A, or BPA, is a petro-chemical found in just about all soft or hard plastics that we use every day. From an article from Jun 23, 2008 – Over six billion pounds are produced each year.

Accumulated doses of plasticizers like BPA, have been linked to infertility and other health problems in research studies.

Thanks to the chemical, pesticide, petroleum, plastic industry we are all putting untold numbers of endocrine disrupting chemicals, called xenoestrogens, into our blood every day that mimic the female hormone estrogen.

When these estrogen mimickers get into our blood, they adhere to estrogen receptors on your cells just like a natural estrogen hormone produced by the body.

Accumulated doses of plasticizers like BPA, have been linked to infertility, estrogen mimicking and many other health problems in many research studies performed over the past 20+ years.

Almost all plastics contain BPA including diapers, water bottles, baby bottles, dental fillings and sealants, dental devices, medical devices, eyeglass lenses, DVDs and CDs, household electronic items, and sports equipment.

BPA and other plasticizers can also be found in epoxy resins that are used to coat the inside of food and beverage cans.

Large amounts of BPA are produced each year. It leaches into food and water supplies, and humans are widely exposed to it.

Endocrine, Hormone Disruptors/Estrogen Mimickers:

Endocrine disruptors imitate the body’s hormones, and it can interfere with the production, secretion, transport, action, function, and elimination of natural hormones.

BPA can behave in a similar way to estrogen and other hormones in the human body. Infants and young children are said to be especially sensitive to the effects of BPA.

Where Are These Chemicals Coming From?

Unfortunately, these endocrine disruptors, or xenoestrogens, seem to be everywhere – in our food, skin care, personal care, and household cleaning products.

Here are some key areas where these man-made “feminizing” chemicals can be found.
Food and Drinks:

They’re found in most non-organic fruits and vegetables treated with pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers, as well as in additives and preservatives in all canned beverages and packaged processed foods of all kinds, including cookies, sodas, breads, muffins, cereal, baby food, chocolate, health foods, organic foods, ice-cream, and frozen foods etc.

Cash Register Receipts:

Bisphenol A (BPA) is used to make thermal paper for grocery store receipts, airplane and bus tickets and just about anything thats “instantly printed” after your store purchase.

Toilet Paper:

According to many studies most toilet paper contains BPA and many other chemicals. Since toilet paper is made from the lowest grades of recycling of plastics, labels, thermal papers because toilet paper is mostly recycled BPA-laden thermal paper mentioned above.

Study’s shows that BPA is also in a wide variety of paper products, including napkins, toilet paper, tickets, food wrappers, newspapers, and printer paper.

“The concentrations are very high in the paper products,” says study researcher Kurunthachalam Kannan, PhD, a research scientist at the New York State Department of Health.

Kannan tested more than 200 paper samples from 15 different types of products. He found BPA levels in paper that were 100 to 1 million times higher than amounts detected in canned and packaged foods.

The study is published in the journal Environmental Science and Technology.

Plastics:

Plastic products may be the #1 reason why male testosterone levels are plummeting globally. They’re filled with estrogen mimics and other testosterone lowering chemicals such as BPA and phthalates.

Think all BPA-free products are safe? Not a chance! According to one research report, many manufacturers simply replaced BPA with another less known chemical called Bisphenol S (BPS).

This is equally as toxic, but research suggests in some ways worse than BPA. Even if the products do not contain BPA they still are likely to contain other estrogen mimics.

The list of plastic products is almost endless. Everything in plastics such as all plastic bottles, baby diapers, tupperware containers, plastic bags, plastic toys, inflatable toys, beds, garden hoses, vinyl flooring, vinyl shower curtains, and so many more.

Always, try to stay away from plastics as much as you can at least in your foods and drinks.

Canned Foods and Non-stick Cookware:

The epoxy lining in nearly all aluminum cans is made with BPA. Especially with acidic contents, like tomatoes or soda, then it breaks down the lining and you’re drinking BPA.

Non-stick cookware such as Teflon release endocrine-disrupting perfluoralkyl compounds when heated and used.

Cleaning & Personal Care Products:

Most major brands of cleaning & beauty products are loaded with chemical estrogen ingredients, such as laundry detergents, dryer sheets, artificial air fresheners, fabric softeners, shampoos, moisturizers, deodorants, hair sprays, perfumes & colognes, spray tanning solutions, makeup, toothpaste, and personal hygiene products.

Old Water Pipes:

Not all, but some old water pipes were coated with BPA to extend their life span from corrosion. Numerous studies have found traces of BPA, phthalates, and many other endocrine disruptors in the U.S. water supply.

Pesticides, Herbicides & Fertilizers:

One of the worst offenders are the herbicides such as glyphosate and atrazine developed by the company names of Monsanto and Syngenta used worldwide.

Monsantos herbicide “Glyphosate” goes by the name of Round-Up and is used on “Round-up Ready” crops or seeds. This means Round-Up can be used on those crops genetically modified to resist the herbicide.

We are massively swimming in these plastics in everything we buy and the derivatives of petroleum and other chemical toxins that leach into everything cause much disturbance to our physical/mental bodies in the form of clogging our muscles, organs, vascular systems, skin pores, lymphatic flow and production and regulation of hormones etc.

Consuming and breathing the vapors of plastic is not just destroying the health of all of us, birds, animals, fish etc., but the direct health of all of the total environments and the future of this planet, and is it clogging us up internally and accumulating day by day by the amount of exposure and lifestyle we have.

CHECK THIS OUT: Plastic floats in twice the size of Texas, the Great Pacific Garbage Plastic Patch stretches for hundreds of miles as a toxic “plastic soup” across the North Pacific Ocean, and is one of the most frightening examples of just how much human activity and pure blasphemy to the natural environment is violating/polluting/destroying the planet.

In total, at least 100 million tons of plastic rubbish is thought to be sloshing around in our seas. Apart from the ocean, there is still plastic in the environment in some form everywhere.

Huge amounts have been stuffed into landfills as rubbish, from where plastic can leach poisonous toxins into groundwater supplies.

One of the best ways to stop a lot of plastic usage, and the toxicity that goes with it, is to make your own clean pure water and store it in glass only. I reuse other glass jars and bottles to store my water.

Try to never buy water in plastic – glass only.

Making pure water from simple dirty tap water is so easy to do, and it is much cheaper and better quality than any bottled water you can buy.
